bought a refurbished macbook for our daughter to do her school work on. we received it today and it is on a username and password screen. anyway around this?

Refurbished from Apple or somewhere else? Have you tried entering a username and password that your daughter will use? Without more information, we really can't be of much help. Exactly, which Mac model do you have and how is it configured - drive size and amount of RAM installed?
